NB. I have family carer and child-minding duties (both scheduled and reactive) -
hence I’m not taking on the bigger jobs you see in my gallery.
Background:
25+ years of experience of building work from groundworks to roofing
including a complete extension build (+planning application and
building control liaison), several kitchen installations (incl. plumbing
and electrics), bathroom and shower room refits, garage re-roofings,
tanking a cellar, fitting laminate & engineered wood flooring, insulating
lofts.
Fabrication of bespoke wooden gates, odd sized doors, shelving units,
a shed and a summerhouse.
Fully insured as a handyman.
I am currently only doing small jobs eg. :
Fitting/repairing TV mounts, shelves, curtain rails, mirrors, grab
handles, pictures, safety gates etc.
Assembling furniture.
Door and window repairs - uPVC and wooden (fitting/changing
locks/handles, hanging doors, adjusting to fit).
Minor plumbing repairs (leaking sinks/taps, waste pipe problems,
toilet flush/fill valves etc).
Minor electrical repairs (changing light fittings).
Small repairs to brickwork.
Replacing broken fence posts.
Making good after other trades.
Helping you complete or fix a DIY job that you’ve started.
Giving advice.
Showing you how to do a job, what to buy and then letting you get
on with it!
£30 per hour plus materials. Lower rates for longer jobs.
Free estimates (Fulwood).
I don’t charge for every little job, just my time - so if I swap a light
fitting, repair a broken curtain rail bracket and adjust a door to fit then
it’s just the time (+ parts) cost.
Small jobs only please.
I don’t quote for jobs - I will tell you the approx material costs and an
estimate of time. A job takes as long as it takes. If you’re unhappy with
my speed, settle up and send me on my way.
Jobs I’m not currently willing to do:
Kitchen installs
Bathroom installs
Electrical installations, new circuits (get an electrician - I don’t have
the test equipment nor the accreditation to sign it off).
Gas and boilers including unvented systems (get a gas engineer or
plumber).
Large decorating jobs (get a decorator - I’m too slow and
expensive and can’t guarantee the time required).
Pointing/building whole walls (see decorating above).
Roofing jobs over 3m high (get a roofer - I’m getting on and I’m
developing a healthy aversion to heights)
Two person jobs (unless you’re willing to be my apprentice) .
Did I mention I only want small jobs?
